Making Vinegar Pies…
We have been busy, busy… Have you checked out the student blogs lately? The students added some great photos and facts about a few exciting things that happened in fourth grade last week. Check them out. I will post some photos soon as well.
Moving on to today… We made vinegar pies! Yes, you read correctly, vinegar pies. We wrapped up some Michigan History last week when we had “Sheepshank Sam” come to tell us all about life in a lumberjack camp. We even had a quiet pancake lunch. Did you know their meals were in complete silence? To celebrate and finish our lumbering studies, we made some vinegar pie. (We were supposed to make it last week, but Mrs. Smits was SICK!) The kids were in groups, worked together, read the recipe, and even had a chance to eat their project. How fun!
I will post the “eating” pictures soon. For now, here they are in action… Enjoy!
In case you would like to bake some vinegar pie. Here is the recipe:
1 unbaked pie shell
3 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons white vinegar
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 cup margarine, melted
1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
2. Mix all ingredients well.
3. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
4. Bake for 55-60 minutes.
5. Cool and Enjoy!
